The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m. by President Kay Sperduti.

Approval of Minutes

Mar 2013 meeting minutes were discussed and approved

Old Business

• Final plans are underway for the Orpheum Fine Arts Festival. Archway is involved. We have a PO booth and representation for the day.
• Compass Bank is set up for Paypal. We need to test the system
  • Kay has a debit card.
  • It is called Compass Cares. If anyone opens up a compass account, we get $50 and a % of their debit purchases
• Message board – Adriana is working with Dr. Bezanson and Ms. Chaney for help to finalize. The plan is now to have this in place for the next school year.
• Plans are underway for a “Celebration for leadership” honoring leadership leaving and new coming. Mr. Chapman will be part of a future assembly to recognize his leadership. The school will present a scrapbook and purchase a sentimental gift. The Board approved moving forward with the gift.

New business

• New committee chairs – We are doing well in filling the committee chairs for next year. We are still looking for a treasurer and bookkeeper.
• Kay will meet with Ms. Chaney before the end of the school year regarding room parents,  correspondence and the Thursday weekly email blast
• The fifth grade is asking for navy blue folders for at a cost of $201.50 The board approved.

Committee Reports

Treasurer

• The bank balance as is $8958.03 as of April 10, 2013.

Lunch Program

• My Fit Foods snacks was added for April and May. The  organization is going 20% off for the month of May at their Gainey store.
• Devi needs a co-chair for the new school year.

Social – Middle School

• April 12^th social will be at Lifetime Fitness at 1:00 includes pizza and drinks for 5^th and 6^th graders.
• April 26^th will be a luau for 7^th & 8^th graders from 7:00 – 9:00.

Fundraiser

• Juniors can start using Script now to start saving for the Sr. trip. Families are using Presto Pay to start the process to help pay for the Sr. trip.
• Phyllis will look into adding the Amazon link like Archway has.

Spirit Wear

• Next year the PO will combine spirit wear and used uniform.

Uniforms

• There is still confusion regarding the uniforms for next year. Kay will ask with Ms. Chaney to send out correspondence.
• The committee will have a drop off one of the last days of school for donated used uniforms.
• The committee also has requested a date to have parents shop for used uniforms in the summer before school starts.

Traffic

• The committee still is in need of help on some mornings.  Volunteers can sign up on SignUp Genius.

Teacher appreciation

• The last Western theme luncheon was a huge success. Tom’s Thumb donated the food.

Community ambassador

• We discussed continuing presenting new baby gifts for teachers.
• It was discussed the school sometimes asks for a basket to be prepared for perspective new teachers. Requests come through several times a year and it was determined that was a process we should continue to support.

Middle School Promotion

• The slide show is being developed on Smilebox and is coming along well.
• The committee is waiting on recommendations from Dr. Bezanson and Ms. Cheany for gift ideas.
• Ann Whyte has offered to help secure a location for the pre-celebration.

High school Graduation

• The school is catering and paying for the reception at Highlands Church.
• Board approved funds for center pieces with the graduates photos.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m. by President Kay Sperduti.

In attendance

Kay Sperduti, Cheryl Prince, Adriana Stanton, Janet Gresco and various committee members

Approval of Minutes

Feb 2013 meeting minutes were discussed and approved

Old Business

• The Fine Arts festival is now called the Orpheum. The date is set for April 20, 2013. The 3^rd and 4^th graders from Archway will also come to perform. Sue Freeman is serving as chair and more correspondence will be coming to parents shortly.
• We discussed again the need for a Paypal account which would allow parents to pay for social events and snowstorm donations on-line. There was discussion around how the account will be created, set up and managed. There could be a lot of different funds coming in (dances, snowstorm, etc) and someone would need to sort through that. It could be complicated to transfer funds. We need to ensure there is a manageable process.
  • We agreed that the PO needs to set up a second bank account.
  • The board voted and approved to open and second bank account at Compass.
• Message board – Adriana is waiting for direction from Dr. Bezanson for next steps.

New business

• New officer election- names need to be to Kay by April 10

Treasurer

• The bank balance as of March 13 is $13,339
• The PO should be receiving $1300 from the lunch vendors for February.

Lunch Program

• My Fit Foods was added for April and May.
• Devi discussed the problem that some students were taking advantage of getting a free lunch if they had forgotten their lunch. The committee decided a policy of one free lunch per semester for kids.
• No one has stepped up to co-chair the committee yet.
• Volunteers are still needed for many days of the week.

Social – Middle School

• April 12^th social will be at Lifetime Fitness at 1:00 includes pizza and drinks.
• April 26^th will be a luau for 7^th & 8^th graders 7 – 9:00.

Spirit Wear

• Have 35 Spartan zip hoodie sweatshirts. Been selling for $25. Kay will ask Shawna if there is interest in using these as gifts for current and new faculty.

Used Uniform

• Inventory is very low. We will promote in the PO newsletter toward the end of school some dates/time for contributions and sales
• When the uniform changes there will be a lull with the logoed shirts.
• All shirts for the 2013- 2014 school year must be logoed and can be purchased from the two approved vendors.

Traffic

• Help is still needed on some days. Volunteers can sign up on sign up genius.

The Scottsdale Prep Parent Organization gave Dr. Bezanson a check for $20,000 at the Fall General Meeting. The gift will go toward the eventual purchase of a shade structure for the student pick-up and drop-off area. The funds came from a variety of fund-raising activities including used uniform and spirit wear sales, the school lunch program, restaurant nights and other efforts.

“We are incredibly appreciative of all the hard work our parents do to support the activities of the Parent Organization,” said Dr. Bezanson. “Receiving this check was a great surprise with perfect timing. We will be hosting an event in November to hopefully raise the rest of the amount needed to purchase the shade structure.”

The link will be posted on the P.O. website for Scottsdale Prep families to contact the sellers. The P.O. is not responsible for the selling or buying of any used books. This is a private contract between the two parties!

The car pool committee is a free service provided by the PO and is responsible for assisting parents with finding other SPA parents/families in their neighborhood in order to facilitate carpools for students.

Please send your info to  carpool@scottsdalepreppo.org and you will be put on a private carpool map for you to find other SPA families in your neighborhood!

This map is kept private and can only be seen by those people that are on it.

Our PO Lunch Committee Volunteers are very happy to announce that Scottsdale Prep is moving to an online lunch ordering system.  Our lunch program coordinators have worked long and hard to get a new and improved system in place that will make the lunch ordering process more efficient and flexible.
